  1. I spent x-mas with my familie, what means my mother and stepfather. We cook together, play games, my stepfather plays the guitar, look at photos, and remind us of the events of that time. Something like that.

The traditional Christmas gift-bringer is the “Christkind”, perhaps you know that.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christkind

And of course, because I´m a good girl I get some presents. A beautiful picture frame, a phone, a favorite shower gel and cream (It’s called Cleopatra) of mine, and some money. 😀

What about you? Comes Santa Claus or the Christkind to a vampire?

    1. Do you not live with your mother and stepfather normally?

A phone is a great gift, as is money. I would imagine money is a preferred gift for most because it avoids all possibility of getting a bad gift.

The problem with me is that people must get creative because I can afford all of my own luxuries, so I am never in need of a new electronic device. I don’t use scented things unless it is cologne, and I can be very specific and very expensive in what I use. I prefer no one ever buy me clothing because I am also very particular about the colour, fit, and style of my clothing. Not only that, but I am a thin 6’4″ and I have large feet, so I don’t think people are too comfortable getting me clothing because they are not sure what to get as far as size goes.

I collect bats and coffins. My nature does get the best of me. And horror movie memorabilia. So many people get me something of those sorts.

      1. No I have my own apartment in the city. I moved out of home when I was 20 years old.

Yeah my old phone is broken and I was so happy to get a new one from my mom. True, money is a good thing and I always get some. Mostly I save the money for a trip or to buy something big. Like a TV, a Playstation ect. However, It’s nice to have to unpack 1 or 2 gifts under the x-mas tree. ^^ I like that.

Phew, I think its hell to find something for you. I would despair. Hmm lets see…what would I give it to you? …Maybe I would go donate blood and then I would draw a cute cat face and stick fake cat ears on the blood bag and wish you a merry x-mas. Sounds good? …Not really eh? Oh dear.
As I can see, Life with the vampire Marius is not an easy task. But I guess this is the truth for any vampire. Hihi.

        6’4? O.O Oh bloody hell you are really taller than I´am. (I´m 1.75m…what means…its 5´8 or 5´9) xD

You collect bats and coffins? XDDD Cool, just like me. Of course, I have only Mini coffins. Even though I would love to have a coffin as a table. A friend of mine have one as a table and one as a wardrobe. Thats cool.

        1. Do you ever get lonely? In your apartment alone? What do you do to pass your hours?

What sort of phone did you get? Do you currently own a very nice TV or a Playstation? My, I am full of questions tonight. My incessantly inquisitive side is coming out, it seems.

A blood bag with a smile and ears? I can certainly say it would be a unique and one of a kind gift. I’ve never received a bag of blood before, and I doubt known anyone who would attach cat ears. But I would drink it, of course. If only to see if your blood is truly sweet, and to prove your hypothesis wrong that your blood is too full of medicines to taste well.

I am very tall. It is annoying how often people look at me and tell me, “God, you’re tall.” I’m well aware of my height. It’s not as if they are telling me anything earth shattering or new. But I find my size works to my advantage. But you are quite tall for a girl yourself. You like being tall?

I do collect both bats and coffins. I would very much love it if you were to share some of your coffin collection with me. I recently purchased the most wonderful coffin shaped clock. I hope soon to commission a coffin sized bookshelf of sorts that I can use to house some of my various bats and coffins and horror move miscellanea. But I should very much like to see some of your collection.

  2. 2 x socks, a soccer shirt, 1 bottle of booze, lots of chocolate. Cash, that i gave to the missus. Best gift, and by far the most important was ten days off.

Hope you had a good christmas, marius.

    1. Ten days off sounds quite nice. I hope you spent most of it doing as little as possible.

I had a wonderful holiday, Paul. I could not spend it where I wanted to, unfortunately, but it still turned out to be a very lovely evening.

  3. Mh…eating (food is the great entertainer for holidays in Italy, you surely know it), going to theatre, seeing bad films (I advise you against last film with Robert Redford), talking about Pompei to anyone wanting to ear about and totally relaxing. I purchased Mary Beard’s book “Pompeii: the life of a Roman Town” (the italian edition is called “Pompei: prima del fuoco”) and found it really interesting.

Hope you enjoyed Christmas holidays too. Do you celebrate Christmas, anyway?

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ‘0 which is not a hashcash value.

    1. I was not aware Robert Redford was in any current films, but I promise should I see it I will give it wide avoidance.

Mary Beard is one of my favourite Roman historians, and I absolutely love her seamless integration of archaeological evidence with historical account in Fires of Vesuvius. You will have to share with me the things you found most interesting about the book.

I celebrate Christmas, of course it goes without saying I do not attach to it any religious significance. But it is a lovely holiday.

      1. Well, the film is called The Company You Keep. This companion was more similar to an old people’s home group anyway. And Redford runs like a seal.

I wished to receive Mary Beard herself in my Santa’s list, but this is another impossibile dream to realize, I guess.
I love her attention for people’s life in Ancient Rome. I seen Pompeii three times but never through mrs Beard’s eyes, tourist guides are always inaccurate in their reports. The life under the Vesuvium was the same we live!
I love her description of life in taverns (there was 200 taverns in all the city, with “comics” painted on the walls!) and her interpretation of sexuality in Rome. I don’t know where to begin for all the book is fantastic!
Pompeii and Herculaneum are in a state of disgracing now, and that’s a terrible shame. All ancient Rome is disgracing and there’s no way to stop that. No one want to. All the money that could be spent on keeping sights safe are in the purse of italian politicians anyway.
I’m so sorry for all the people dead in the fire…the chronicle written by Pliny about the event is terribly vivid and clear.

Christmas is a holiday to be spent with relatives and people we love, it ended to be a religious holiday almost in 1 AC, I guess.
Gifts and chocolate are all the religion I need 🙂

        1. Sadly, most of the arts are suffering, but Italian politics are quite in need of some reformation, as I am sure you well know. Mary Beard is the sort of historian that Rome needs because her knowledge is accessible and entertaining. Have you read her column? Most recently I was able to enjoy her BBC series called Meet the Romans with Mary Beard (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ghsjx) where she and a bike toured Rome and looked at interesting things like tombs to tell some of the story of Ancient Rome. I would highly recommend it if you can get a copy of it online, or even for free on youtube.com.

She is also a contributor on an online blog. Not all of her posts are centred on academics or Rome, but she has written quite a few that are of great scholarly interest.

She is a fascinatingly wonderful woman, and her sense of humour is as worthy of respect as her intelligence. If you cannot get your hand on more of her books, then you must read her blog postings.

  4. I was given an iPad, which is a rather fantastic device. Currently my only access to the Internet had been a cellular phone, which makes typing out long messages rather cumbersome and difficult. I have looked over previous emails and messages I had sent and noticed grevious errors in spelling! Silly me being so excited to send off my message I didn’t check it before posting.

Hopefully the bigger touchpad will help.

Already I have loaded it with all manner of music, movies and book I think it has hardly left my hands since it was given to me! Les merveilles de la technologie.

Was Christmas everything you wanted this year Marius?

    1. Touch screens are incredibly difficult. I try to keep everything brief when I am using my phone because my fingers are just too large for little buttons. An iPad is a wonderful present. Do you absolutely love it? If you need a keyboard, I would recommend a wireless bluetooth keyboard. When you need to do extensive typing, it can make the iPad much more efficient.

My Christmas was suitable. I suppose I don’t get excited about things as much anymore, but I did enjoy it and my friends gave me a number of considerate things.

      1. The iPad is wonderful. Truly a marvelous device! And I will have to look into a wireless keyboard. Though for now I seem to be doing alright without it. (I have rather long, thin fingers, and the iPad keyboard seems to fit them perfectly.) I have started writing a book. So we shall see how that goes.

I’m glad that you spent Christmas with friends. I spent mine with loved ones as well. Perhaps the first time in several years. It was a holiday season that was rather special for me.

  5. My Christmas celebration was small and quiet like every year. Two weeks off university which I’m spending at my parents’ house, My brother doesn’t like Christmas but we all had dinner together and spent a nice evening talking.
I got “Molecular Biology of the Cell”, also known as “the bible” and a potetially deadly weapon if smashed against someone’s head.
My mom also gave me a new game of “Concentration” with pictures of World Heritage Sites.
But I like giving Christmas presents as much as getting them. This year I sewed a lot, so I could make both ahndy and personal gifts for my friends.
Did you give someone a present?

    1. So a necessary staple book in your field, then? Those are wonderful to have, and you know by possessing them that you have now reached a higher level of intent in your field. Put it on your coffee table.

What did you make for your friends?

Yes, I gave my girlfriend a present. I even wrapped it myself. She said it was quite pretty and wonderfully wrapped, but of course it was– I did it. It was movies because that is what she wanted. In retrospect, I should have aimed for something more intimate and romantic, but a concept of sentimental romance has always eluded me. I am more concerned with “usefulness” than “sentiment.” So I shall have to think of something wonderful for Valentine’s Day to make up for it like I did for her last year.

      1. Yep. I try to choose my books very carefully because they are very expensive and most I simply borrow from the library for the time I need them. This one I wanted to have in my shelf, though. No matter in which field of biology I’ll end up later, I’ll always have to do with cells. It’s really good for looking things up and the structure is very comprehensible.
The only big disadvantage is it’s size and weight. I always hoped that one day they’d invent a magnetic binding for such books which would allow to take single chapters out, read them in the bus etc. and put them back later.

I sewed pencil rolls for my female friends and bags to put in the gifts for my male friends. Laertis got an artbook with her own magnificent work.

Oh, I remember you’re not the romantic type…how is it possible to not like “Jane Eyre” ? But I’m sure your gift was appreciated. Wrapping gifts is a mystery of its own in my opinion but when one does it with love that’s always visible. Your girlfriend saw that (women always do) and I’m convinced it made her happy.

        1. If no one has yet invented what you want, then you must take the initiative and invent it yourself. Because that does sound quite convenient. I never thought of such a thing myself.

I do hope that she did. Most of the time she is angry at me for one reason or another.

  6. It´s pretty stange that I can´t replay you so I make a new one 😀

I have to admit that I get lonely from time to time. There is only one friend in my town and we don’t see each other very often. You know, he is that kind of friend you can have fun with, in this case it means videogames, manga and movie stuff. I love him very much but he is nothing for deep or cuddle things. ^^ My other friends live somewhere all over Germany and they all have families. So of course I don´t see them anymore. There were no close friends but friends. My best friend is right know in her own dark world and doesn’t let me come in, no need to tell more.
I talk with Michelle every day and I´m so happy that I had the luck to find her. Paul, Vincent (Vinc is from Spain and I think you don’t know him. We found each other on SR as well.) and we are good buddys and of course I have always a good time with the vamps. Then I have 3 other I-Net friends I like very much and we talk from time to time.
How else do I pass my hour, lets see, I draw, write and read a lot. Make some mediation stuff and have always good talks with my mother. I play my games, not every day of course, that would be boring. I listen to music and I like to watch TV. Documentations and movies mostly. I love to search for pics in the I-net, I do that almost everyday. I´m a pic freak 😀 So I do this “normal” stuff, nothing special really.

Some years ago I played “Life RPG” (Do you know that that is?). We met at night and had a hell of fun with the stories. That was very cool. But everything comes to an end someday.

If I had more money I would travel a lot and go to the theatre, musicals or the opera as often as I could ^^

How about you? You have so much time, I could never live so long in this world without honing mad or getting bored to death. At least I guess so.

*smilie* No problem, I like to speak with you, so ask what ever you want, I do the same anyway. ^^
The phone is for the landline and from Panasonic. I have still no Mobiltelefon, I simply dont need one. ^^
My “new” Thoshiba TV is one year old and yes Ineed, I buy a PS2 on ebay 2 days ago. This PS2 is from USA so I can finally play my english and japanese games!! XD I wait for …10 years to play Xengosaga 1 & 3! XD Yesterday I start with the first part and I get it well. The english is difficult but because I know the story I get it better then I thought. ^^ and yes, I´m a bit proud of myself. You can not imagine how happy I am that I´m finally able to play the games. So my PS 3 will get some rest now.

I like cat ears, they’re cute XD and I thought it’s unique and funny. But of course, if you prefer bat wings it’s not a problem at all.

…O.o But… my blood is full of medicines and the blood would be cold too, that tastes awful! You must believe me! My conscience couldn’t bear it if you got sick. The blood bag with cat ears -and if you want bat wings- is just for watching. So be a good boy and stay a cool vampire. Muwahaha.

Haha, I love how you speak and I know what you mean. In my case it’s not my general body size but something else in that direction. This really goes in my nerves.

Fifty fifty. Sometimes I like it to be a tall girl, sometimes it sucks. You you cannot imagine how much I attract attention in Japan alone because of my size.
Although I must admit that it is quite amusing that men feel a bit intimidated at times.

In German you would describe me as a “Vollblutweib”. Unfortunately there is no good translation for this word.
But one could say it means a tall woman with very feminine attributes and a healthy body / blood. Of course the health is not true for me. ^.^

Oh I had a coffin ring once! But I lost it 🙁

Hey that sounds terrific! Which color? Black? And you like horror movies?

Right now my bats are sleeping in a box. I don’t have enough space to put them up at the moment. But one is happily laying on my books.

Well If you wanna see my collection, find me in Germany baby. Ha!

    1. I am very lucky that I live next door to one of my very good friends. I met him through a mutual friend; I was friends with his boyfriend, who was a work colleague with me at the same university. When it came time to move, as I am prone to get restless, I moved in next door to them because they desired me to. So whenever I want company, I can have it, though I remain a hopeless loner. We are always back and forth between each other’s homes. I keep forgetting to just leave a key with them in case they need or want something and I am not in.

Everyone should have at least one friend nearby, if only to have someone there to help in the case of emergency. Are you just introverted? I would hate to think of you alone if you wish to be otherwise, and I will worry for you if that is the case. Though if you like to be alone, I will know not to worry so much. Still, it is fortunate that you have internet friends that you can keep company with if you need it.

Well, tell me for the sake of my own curiosity, what are your most favourite movies?

I have heard of Live RPG, what is called LARP (Live Action Role Play). I was at a convention just this past November and walked into a room of people who were pretending to be cats in a village at a birthday party. It was bizarre and surreal, and I lingered for a short while because it was the most curious thing. What sort of live role play did you do?

Video Games are wonderfully compelling ways to pass the time, like an interactive story.

Men are quite silly, aren’t they? I say “they” because I don’t feel I am one of the silly ones. But I have seen it and heard it. There are men who say they cannot date a woman taller than them, and I think that is just ridiculous because a beautiful woman is a beautiful woman, and a tall woman is just elegance. And so now you know that you must never, ever feel insecure over your height.

Ah well, if I could I would send you rings with bats and coffins.

Is that an invitation? Dangerous to invite a vampire in. Or so I hear.

  7. Thats really wonderful!! So when you are alone or need some help you have someone on your side.! Thats cool.

I´m a bit introverted, yes , and I like it to be alone, yes, but I must admit it would be good to have another friend here. Someone who put me out of my grave (it sucks so much that I cant have a car. Stupid epilepsy :p ), someone I can talk to, someone I can trust. But I know my little town, I know a lot of people, I work for the city, and there is nobody who is a bit more…profound, dreamy, crazy, intellectual and funny. I-net friends are wonderful of course but it´s still a big diffrence between flesh and blood or a PC screen. Besides all my I-net friends are British, French, Australian or spanish. XD So I can just speak english with them, and english is not my best „talent.” Its a wonder that they have so much patience with me anyway. They all have a family and/or have some problmes as well. I help so good as I can, but of course the I-net have limits. In the end I talk with the vamps more as with them XDD Oh dear, perhaps I should visit a doc.
However, no worries about me. I’m a tough girl and I’m getting used to it. 😀

Haha. You will never guess that. My favorite movie is „Interview with the vampire.“ What a surprise, right? I have the movie in japanese at home 😀 (with engl. sub) The voices are so cool and It really fits, believe it or not. ^^
I also love „Final Fantasy 7 advent children -complete“, The Phantom of the Opera, LotR, Harry Potter, Star Wars & Star Trek, The Silence of the Lambs, Death Note, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Battle Royale ect.
The BBC Sherlock is a masterpiece and I love to watch Animes, of course. Like Hellsing, Pet Shop of Horrors, Yami no Matsuei, Tokyo Babylon ect.

True, you can call it LARP. Is the official I think.
Cats? Are you sure it was a LARP? Perhaps you checked the musical „cats“ out, and because you are getting old you just don´t know it anymore. Should I worry old man?
Umm what sort of…umm well…it´s called …* cough * …„Vampire the masquerade. „ ^.^ „Vampire“ is actually a pen & paper RPG. To make it a LARP of it, it´s not difficult. And no, I don´t play it because the blood stuff. Do you know it?

Ha. Thanks. But no worries I have noticed that German men are not my taste anyway.

You bet it is. Then you can give the bats and coffins to me yourself.
It is dangerous to invite a vampire? I would be disappointed if it is not dangerous. Pff.

    1. I think you underestimate how well you speak English. Though it is always so much more comfortable to be able to speak in your own native tongue to others who speak the same.

Interview With the Vampire is a very good movie, though it is a bit strange to watch. I have to admit I have never seen it in Japanese. I think I might laugh if I saw a Japanese dub over Lestat’s character’s voice. Final Fantasy Advent Children is a very good movie, as is Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Death Note, Dracula, and Battle Royale, though only in that case the first and not the second.

I have to agree that BBC’s Sherlock is a masterpiece. It is one of my favourite shows to watch. It doesn’t help that the lead actor is nice to look at. As it would be, I have seen all of your listed anime with the exception of Petshop of Horrors, and I quite like the villains in all of the above.

I am certain it was a Live Action Roleplay, which is what made it so very bizarre. I wasn’t quite sure where the “fantasy” ended, and the deluded reality began. But then I have always been confused by people who genuinely believe they are animals, or contain the spirit of an animal.

I know of Vampire the Masquerade. I have never played it, but it was quite popular decades ago. It had its own book series, my memory tells me the series had the word “raven” in its name somewhere, and I am certain I even owned one of the books once. It also had its own PC game, which I think I do own. For novelty, of course.

Dangerous to invite a normal vampire in, yes, but not me. I am harmless.

      1. I think you underestimate how well you speak English. Though it is always so much more comfortable to be able to speak in your own native tongue to others who speak the same.

Marius my friend, Michelle helps me really a lot. Anything with languages and math is terrible for me. But my Doc says thats “normal” for an epileptic. He gives me a lot of courage and I hope you hear my sarcasm.

But a least I understand you well. I need not much help for your text and I am so eternally grateful for your effort to speak in a easy way for me.

Yes, In german ,of course, I´m so much faster and I still think I´m funnier in german. XD Even I must admit that my german is, like me, always a bit “alive” and confusing. Sometimes I use different slangs, one is a bit like Yoda speaks. Its called “Platt-Deutsch”, then a bit the old german, then “normal” german ect. Any german can understand me, of course, and I believe Michelle finds that funny.

Interview With the Vampire is a very good movie, though it is a bit strange to watch. I have to admit I have never seen it in Japanese. I think I might laugh if I saw a Japanese dub over Lestat’s character’s voice. Really? Why it is strange to watch?? The japanese voices is much more better then the german or sapnish voices. The sound is really great. And Santigao have a adorable voice in japanese. The only voice I like more then the original.

Wow you know all the movies?? Never thought that. I love the OST of FF7 AC XD

The second of BR sucks indeed.

What about you and your favorite moives?

I have to agree that BBC’s Sherlock is a masterpiece. It is one of my favourite shows to watch. It doesn’t help that the lead actor is nice to look at. As it would be, I have seen all of your listed anime with the exception of Petshop of Horrors, and I quite like the villains in all of the above.

        Ohhhh Benny looks very…yummy XD

Pet Shop of horrors is a very unique anime. Of course the manga is much better and more bloody but the anime catch the atmosphere well. Its the same with Tokoy Babylon. In the film is Seishiro so…nice. That is really confusing when you know the manga XD I dunno if its true but Ive heard that there is a english version who is Hoku-chan switched with Subaru because the gay “relationship” of Seihsiro and Subaru is dangerous for the kids. O.o Apart from the fact that kids dont read that, is that such a big bullshit! Grrrr.

        You know Yami no Matsuei???

Of course the villains are my favorites as well. I have so many Seishiro, Alucard and Muraki pics at home, I cant count them anymore XD
Alucard is my favorite manga vampire ^^ He is so funny and monster like. Oh and when the germans speaks german is that very amusing. I never understand a word except I read the subtitles. XD

I am certain it was a Live Action Roleplay, which is what made it so very bizarre. I wasn’t quite sure where the “fantasy” ended, and the deluded reality began. But then I have always been confused by people who genuinely believe they are animals, or contain the spirit of an animal.

*laugh * Was it an japanese Larp?

I know of Vampire the Masquerade. I have never played it, but it was quite popular decades ago. It also had its own PC game, which I think I do own. For novelty, of course.

Right now I write for you a little Vampire the Masquerade report ^^ It was a hell of fun playing it.

        Lol. Of course!

Dangerous to invite a normal vampire in, yes, but not me. I am harmless.

No you are not. You are the reincarnation of sin, just like Armand.

        1. Yes, In german ,of course, I´m so much faster and I still think I´m funnier in german. XD Even I must admit that my german is, like me, always a bit “alive” and confusing. I think the way you must speak sounds brilliant and wonderful. I love a person who knows their way around a word, and can slip in small witicisms that only the truly intelligent can note and appreciate. It sounds as if you have that special way with your language.

Really? Why it is strange to watch?? The japanese voices is much more better then the german or sapnish voices. The sound is really great. And Santigao have a adorable voice in japanese. The only voice I like more then the original.

It is only strange to me to see people playing these men and women I know, and I remember some and certain things. It is just a bizarre moment when you see a past you remember shown to you, but not quite the way you remember it.

Wow you know all the movies?? Never thought that. I love the OST of FF7 AC XD

I have a lot of free time. I even own quite a few of those movies myself.

What about you and your favorite moives?

I have so many favourites. There is Immortal Beloved, because I adore everything Gary Oldman does. I quite like Dracula, as well. Lord of the Rings, particularly the last two of the trilogy. I like old Burton films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. I also quite like horror films: A Nightmare on Elm Street and silent Hill.

          Ohhhh Benny looks very…yummy XD

He certainly is a very beautiful man.

Pet Shop of horrors is a very unique anime. Of course the manga is much better and more bloody but the anime catch the atmosphere well. Its the same with Tokoy Babylon. In the film is Seishiro so…nice. Having read the English volumes of Tokyo Babylon, all seven of them, I can assure that it is still Subaru who is in the relationship with Seishiro, and it is maintained later on further in the X/1999 series. I think there came a point when CLAMP accepted that they had to let the story stand, and there needs to be relationships of all sorts in media. I quite like Seishiro and Subaru because they have within them a great deal of unspoken complexity. One chose to die and the other chose to become what the dead one once was. Sometimes love expresses itself in strange ways.

Have you ever seen the live action Tokyo Babylon they made? I believe it is called Tokyo Babylon 1999.

          You know Yami no Matsuei???

I do. I think I even have the DVDs here somewhere. No telling where those things have vanished to. I will have to go through old boxes and find them. I moved over the summer, so there are still many things I have packed away.

I thought the bad guy, Muraki, was quite interesting.

XD

What a shame I cannot send you the countless Tokyo Babylon doujinshi I have somehow managed to acquire over the years.

I too like and attend conventions.

Would you like to know a secret? My very favourite is Seishiro. So now we have something else in common.

No you are not. You are the reincarnation of sin, just like Armand.

But some sins are better than others, wouldn’t you agree?

  8. Mary Beard and her adorable bike are the reasons of my interest in Roman History 😀
In my high school days I had a teacher of roman and greek history like her. Finding Mrs Beard it’s been quite delightful, I had glittering eyes for days!
I seen her BBC documentary on History Channel months ago. It was called “Ti presento i Romani”, wich translation in english is “Let me introduce the Romans” or something.
I was struck by her sensibility talking about childhood in Ancient Rome. She was reading the inscription on the tombstone posed for a little girl with such a sadness that I almost cried. Those people….they could never imagine their names red from their tombstones centuries after their death on an international medium like television. I wonder if they’d be happy. Death is a misery boths for living beings and for inanimated sights. The thought of been remembered is a big comfort I guess. The Romans cared so much about.
I red avidly all her words, thank you so much for the links you shared ^_^ I wasn’t aware she had a blog, I saved it in my bookmarks <3 Her books are also available in italian language, so I surely will purchase them and keep them as relics. I red Blood & Gold in english years ago, and that's been a hard test for my comprehension of the language, wich is embarassingly poor 😀 I will never, never do it again. For now. So I'm glad that Mary Beard's books have been translated in italian.
What a wonderful woman… I've never seen someone caring so much about ancient women giggles. But I'm sure they did anyway. Without giggles life can be extremely boring sometimes.

    1. I think that they would be very happy to be discussed on television centuries later. The tomb was meant as a way to immortalise the individual, and has served its purpose in a way that no one then could have anticipated.

Can you believe that after her special about Rome, the very one you saw, she got criticism from the media for her appearance? They criticised her for not wearing make up and having tangled hair. Well, I would like to see someone dress in heels and full make up when they are biking about and walking through ancient landmarks. I felt it was terribly disrespectful to judge her so when she is a scholar to be admired and respected, and her scholarly work should be what she is valued for.

  9. I think the way you must speak sounds brilliant and wonderful. I love a
person who knows their way around a word, and can slip in small witicisms that only the truly intelligent can note and appreciate. It sounds as if you have that special way with your language.

Haha, indeed, in a very special way, so special that my teacher always making fun of me. :p But I am how I am, and I think I´m still understandable. Michelle, however, has never complained. ^.^

It is only strange to me to see people playing these men and women I know, and I remember some and certain things. It is just a bizarre moment when you see a past you remember shown to you, but not quite the way you remember it.

Ah ok true. It would be the same for me. What have you thought as you saw Antonio Banderas as Armand?

I have so many favourites. There is Immortal Beloved, because I adore everything Gary Oldman does. I quite like Dracula, as well. Lord of the Rings, particularly the last two of the trilogy. I like old Burton films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. I also quite like horror films: A Nightmare on Elm Street and silent Hill.

Burton films!!! I´ve a wonderful collection of Burton films and I love all of them. Edward Scissorhands is such a sad movie 🙁 Thats why I can´t watch him vey often. The only movie I don´t like is Silent Hill. I don´t like the videogames, I hate zombies and that film is terrible. XDD

I love all 3 parts of LotR. Part one actually „just“ because the many elf scene. When they show the masses of orcs in the 2nd part I always get goosebumps. And the Nazgûl are always cool. ^^

Nightmare on Elm Street are very funny horros movies for me. I always laught a lot. ^^

He certainly is a very beautiful man.

He will be the reason that I will watch the new Star Trek movie. XD Superficial of me, I know.

Have you ever seen the live action Tokyo Babylon they made? I believe it is called Tokyo Babylon 1999.

Ah good to know. In addition to the Phantom and Christine are Seishiro and Subaru my favorite pairing ever. Ok, ok, Marius & Armand and Armand & Lestat are not bad either. 😉
Yes, the relationship between Seishiro and Subaru is unique and fascinating. And that least get Subaru the eye of his true love.

Yes indeed but still, to bad that CLAMP never finish the X series. 🙁 Well at least I know what happen wir S&S. That was the important thing for me anyway.)

Tsk. Of course I know it. Thanks to Youtube 😉 And in Japan I´ve found the OST to the movie 😀 For 3 or 4 Euro in the shop „Mandarake.“

I do. I think I even have the DVDs here somewhere. No telling where those things have vanished to. I will have to go through old boxes and find them. I moved over the summer, so there are still many things I have packed away.
I thought the bad guy, Muraki, was quite interesting.

Ah yes, my YnM DVDs are treasures to me. Tsk,tsk. You should really look for them. Do you remember Murakis japanese voice? *shiver

What a shame I cannot send you the countless Tokyo Babylon doujinshi I have somehow managed to acquire over the years.

    O.O YOU ….YOU HAVE… DOU…DOUJINSHI ABOUT S&S????? *faint * Thats so means vampires have everything. >..< ; Please…don´t grin now. * blush*

I too like and attend conventions.Would you like to know a secret?

I love secrets, and of course I will be silent as a grave.

My very favourite is Seishiro. So now we have something else in common

…If I didn´t adore you already, now I would do it. Someone who loves Sei-chan is my hero!

But some sins are better than others, wouldn’t you agree?

HA! I haven´t much experience in that kind of matter. What was the worsed sin I ever done? That I lied because of fear? Yes, of course. guilty as charged. That I promised my mother to clean up my room or to learn and I didn’t do it? Also, guilty as charged. And once, when I had no ink for my pen and I knew that this is for my teacher doomsday, and to protect me against psychological harm by my classmates, I stole the ink. But you know what? I´m sure god will forgive me that. I´m totally, boring good. XD Of course, I know the deepest darkness very well, as you know, as Armand know, but that dosen´t mean that I´m a part of it.

However, is a sin that has to do with Marius or Armand, worthy to be committed? I would agree, yes. And I´m sure, Armand would have now a mischief smile on his lips, just like you.
Ah and what sins you would want to seduce me to commit? Hmm…I should ask this question Armand as well. Lol.

    1. Ah ok true. It would be the same for me. What have you thought as you saw Antonio Banderas as Armand?

I wrestled with two emotions: horror and amusement. They could not have picked a person more perfectly the opposite of Armand. I applaud them for their ambitious and daring character choices, but it was a poor choice. The actor did no justice to Armand’s youth and beauty.

Burton films!!! I´ve a wonderful collection of Burton films and I love all of them. Edward Scissorhands is such a sad movie Thats why I can´t watch him vey often. The only movie I don´t like is Silent Hill. I don´t like the videogames, I hate zombies and that film is terrible. XDD

Burton is an amazing writer and artist, though sadly it seems his works of late has been too concerned with blockbuster appeal. Burton’s artistic vision suffers because in making movies meant to appeal to the masses he loses the qualities that make his work so unique. Burton, in his very essence, appeals to a small niche of people, and he should keep it this way.

Yes, the relationship between Seishiro and Subaru is unique and fascinating. And that least get Subaru the eye of his true love.

I thought the gesture was really quite sweet, but then I am taken with masochistic displays of love that border on something one would need a mental professional to work through.

Ah and what sins you would want to seduce me to commit?

Ah but you see, I don’t believe in sin. It is a fun construct because some people can be quite thrilled by the possibility of shame or guilt, and sin is a perfect vehicle for shame and guilt. That is unless you take it to heart and truly believe you will be damned– I imagine in that case there is a little less thrill in sin. I think sin is just a nonsense term for things that come natural to humans: pleasure, gratification, and a bit of hedonism every now and then. And there is no crime in this.
