The loyalty of minions

I have always been the sort to choose my friends wisely. One of the few friends I keep always in my confidence is, as she signs her lovely cards, Heather. I could ask for no more loyal a minion as she, and indeed she is more than a minion, she is a friend. One of my most trusted friends, who has always proven herself to be loyal. When someone sticks by you through bad times, it means a lot. When someone defends you merely because they care about you, it means more. And when someone has proven they can be trusted with all your intimate secrets, well, they are a keeper. I can tell her anything and she will forever be my friend.

Tonight I went and collected my mail, and I was delighted to see a package from her waiting for me.

What do you get for a man who has everything? Magic, of course. Love magic, because she knows how hopeless I am. I love it. My minions are the very best. And proof that you can meet truly good people on the Internet.

  1. Aww thats wonderful!! I´m so happy for you, to have a faithulf minion, a friend is the most precious thing of all.

I have always been the sort to choose my friends wisely.

    And that is very wisely.

I can tell her anything and she will forever be my friend.

Anything? So she knows you are a vamp?

Btw, there is a bat in the backround XDDDD Is the bat for a candle? Or is it a ashtray?

    1. Anything? So she knows you are a vamp?

She indeed does because I met her on a familiar forum that I will not say the name of.

Btw, there is a bat in the backround XDDDD Is the bat for a candle? Or is it a ashtray?

The bat is supposed to be a candy dish, but I don’t candy. Or at least, I don’t need that much for guests. I already have a very delightful spiderweb bowl that contains things for me to watch my guests eat with pleasure. I do use the bat as a candle holder, but I only put a candle on it when I need to light it, when there needs to be a certain mood in and around my couch.

      1. XDDDD That´s wonderful Marius!!

My best friend have a BIG, black spiderweb in her living room… Well, it looks cool, yeah, but I´m not a friend of spiders. >.<

I would use it as a candle holder as well. ^^ Lol. The bat is so cute.
A certain mood in and around your couch? Ah I know…when you want to read a very good book…right? *absolutely innocent look.*

Oh by the way, you can be proud of your minion. Today I did my 5th (inofficial) guided tour through the museum. 4 of them were in English more or less XDDD. The nice Americans understood me very well and we had lots of fun. They liked me so much that we exchanged e-mail adresses. They were happy and thankful that I gave them my time. I'm really glad about that.

        1. Spiders are quite atrocious, aren’t they? I have had friends who are fascinated by them and have spiders as pets. Massive, colourful tarantulas. I don’t favour that sort of creature as a pet. I like things that have a graceful ferocity. Or things that are quiet and effortless. Though funnily enough I have a spiderweb on my wall. It was tacked there by a friend in and around Halloween and I have been entirely too lazy to remove it. I think I have gotten used to it. In any event, it is surrounded by coffins, a coffin clock, a skull, and a coffin shaped mirror decorated with a bat, so I don’t suppose people think that it is out of general sequence with the rest of the decor.

If I could send you my very cute bat, I would.

Pretend that I am on your tour. How would you welcome? Teach me something as you would teach it were I being taken on a guided tour. Nevermind that I cannot see anything referenced. I simply want a bit of the experience.

  2. Oh yes, it’s indeed possible to meet amazing people on the internet. I couldn’t love a “real” sister more than I love Laertis. It’s great you have such a wonderful friend, Marius. Friendship was, is and will always bee an invaluabel good.
You’re a lucky man and what’s even better: you obviously know it.

    1. I am very lucky in the company I keep. Then again, I have made a lot of mistakes in the past with associations and relationships, so I have learned the hard way how to find people who are true. There are many people who like one side of me, but it is the devotion of firm and fast friendship I want, from mortals and immortals alike.

To now you tell me, Tanaquil, about something you possess that has a memory attached to it. A gift, a small trinket, something that you will always keep for the emotions that it carries.

      1. We all have to make those mistakes. It’s impossible to get to know people without allowing them a little closeness and become a little vulnerable.

I pondered about your question all day and there are actually two small objects with a special meaning to me. The first is a key-ring formed from New York, formed like an apple with my name on it. My first and for a long time only friend at boarding school gave it to me when she came back from vacations in the United States. I loved her madly.
The other is a pendant showing an Indian god looking like an elephant. It was a gift of a man I met in New York. He asked me to take a picture of him on the boat to Liberty Island. In the end we spent the whole day together and it turned out that he was currently was currently working in Germany as an immunology postdoc. Unfortunately he fell in love with me a few months later but I noticed too late and… well, it was complicated. But I remember him as a good person and I wear this pendant as a lucky charm at every exam, just like I promised him. I didn’t fail a single exam so far 😉

I spent only a single day in NY, but it’s a city somehow connected to two important persons in my life, you see.

        1. New York is a beautiful, complex city, full of people from all over the world. I love it in New York, though I don’t go there too often. I find I have an increasing inability to tolerate the crush of people. I’ve myself met so many wonderful people there, none of them making any lasting connections, of course, but still precious in those few moments or days.

Fell in love with you? Oh my. And did you share any feelings for him?

    1. I agree completely. Both in that friends are rarely and must be kept close to the heart, and also that I am very lucky.

  3. I am very happy that you liked your gift so much. And I am honored to be counted among your friends. I do hope that you know that the feeling is mutual. You are simply amazing, in every way, and one of the best friends anyone could ever hope for.
    All my love,
    Heather

    1. There is my Heather. I was wondering when you would begin to leave me messages here. I do hope you will take my suggestive advice and use your personal reel wisely, if not frequently.

      1. I do hope that you will accept my apologies for having kept you waiting Marius. You know how easily I get sidetracked. As for your advice, only a fool would ignore it from one such as you. <3

        1. All apologies accepted, my dear. As one who is very easily distracted, I don’t hold it against you. To have you here in even the rarest of occasional is my pleasure.

Well, I’ve not seen much of NY. As I said above, I was only there for one day and two nights. It was where my USA-adventure started. I ran into the Empire State Building by accident, I saw the Liberty Island and Time Square and lots and lots of taxis.
I was very impressed though. I had been to Berlin, London, Rome and other big cities before but this was just soooooo huge.
What is your favorite part of the city?

Fell in love with you? Oh my. And did you share any feelings for him?
Nope, I didn’t and I noticed too late that he was interested in me in a romantic way. He lived only 2 hours from the town where I started uni in fall of the same year and we met a few times. We had lots of common interests and wonderful talks but for me he was “just” a friend.
But I learned a lot from that. Most importantly: Men aren’t logical at all and “I accept that” does in reality mean ” I’ll try it again another day” :p
But men and me is a difficult topic anyway.
They’re not all bad though…at the moment I’m living with 2 (or 3 at the weekend) of those specimen and I simply love it.

    1. I quite like China Town and Times Square. I prefer the places that are open 24 hours a day, always crowded and full of life and shopping. New York City is a wonderful place if all night is all you have.

If you think men are confusing, what about women? Compared to the complexity of a woman’s heart and mind, men are dreadfully simple.

      1. Big cities at night are always fascinating. I wasn’t out after dark much in the USA. I had promised my mom not to and I was usually tired from running around all day anyway.

I won’t deny that women are complicated but they aren’t that confusing. Social interactions have never been a strength of mine but with women I get along more easily than with men. With men I’m never sure what they actually want.

        1. How wonderful, because I can assure you that men feel the same way: we are never quite sure what women actually want.

  5. “All apologies accepted, my dear. As one who is very easily distracted, I don’t hold it against you. To have you here in even the rarest of occasional is my pleasure.”

Thank you for understanding. 🙂 As for the rest of what you said, well, the pleasure isn’t all yours. *winks* And that almost sounds like a challenge.
Shall I stalk you here my beautiful friend? <3

  6. Ha ha. Be careful what you wish for! It has been said that I am the queen of the internet you know. (It isn’t true, but that’s beside the point.) <3

  7. If I could send you my very cute bat, I would.

Michelle loves that little beasts as well . *brrr I get quite a shock as I saw the big spider in the 3rd part of LotR. I couldn´t sleep well if I would know that a tarantula lives in the same apartment as I.

Yes Indeed. And cats are such wonderful pets. A fake spiderweb is something different. Ha. Sounds like a real and cool goth apartment. A friend of mine used his skull always as a candle halter. ^^

Awww thanks, that’s very sweet. I have a very cute plush toy bat at home. The cute thing squints quite delightfully, and grins with the vamp fangs very happily. ^^

Pretend that I am on your tour. How would you welcome? Teach me something as you would teach it were I being taken on a guided tour. Nevermind that I cannot see anything referenced. I simply want a bit of the experience.

How I welcome a vampire? I would say, “Sorry sir but we have closed already.” XDD But it’s known that money can open doors and if you should really manage to get a night tour my welcome for you would be more than just polite. Not only because that’s in my nature but also because that’s part of my job, of course. It also depends on how you would act towards me. The guest is the king so you decide if I shake your hand or not.No matter if you would openly approach me and shale my hand or not, I would greet you with a small bow. If just with my head or with my body depends on the person standing in front of me and also on my mood, like so often. In any case my bow -even if it’s just a nod- would be deeper than that of a “normal” German. Partly because that’s typical for me and partly because a part of soul is Japanese. I don’t see it as a subordinate gesture but as something polite and respectful. The other person has to decide for themselves what to make of it.
Well then my dear Marius, apart from the fact that such a tour is a long road to go and because Michelle doesn’t have all time in the world, I want a revenge. And because it is your place I dare and enjoy my revenge with my soul! You must suffer for all vampires. It’s your own fault, you are one of the real clever ones. And you have me as a minion, a minion who adores you!
Ready? I will tell you from my museum and I will tell you how a tour works, but, lets face it, it is a German museum 😀 Take your time my love, you have all time in the world…Well then my nobler Herr und Meister. Also einen Ichthyosaurier, Knochen, Steine, Waffen ect. ect.

Aber da du nun genug gelitten hast, will I speak English again. You know what, my dear friend? You have no idea how much fun that was and I hope you have enough to ponder. Yes baby, that was the right stuff. Muwahahaha. (Don´t dare it and answer in Latin, I have no chance against that. English is enough for me XDD )
Well, what should I say more for this evening except, vale! (You still like me, right?? )

    1. Michelle loves that little beasts as well . *brrr I get quite a shock as I saw the big spider in the 3rd part of LotR. I couldn´t sleep well if I would know that a tarantula lives in the same apartment as I.

I knew a young man who used to keep a spider as a pet, a giant tarantula, and he would keep this spider in his front pocket. He would stand there and sticking out of his breast pocket would be the face and front legs of a hairy spider. Well one evening at a party the spider was not in his pocket, as from time to time he would set it down, and we heard a cry, “Spider!”

And that was the end of that poor pet. He was squashed mercilessly by a terrified party-goer.

It also depends on how you would act towards me. The guest is the king so you decide if I shake your hand or not.No matter if you would openly approach me and shale my hand or not, I would greet you with a small bow. I don’t see it as a subordinate gesture but as something polite and respectful. The other person has to decide for themselves what to make of it.

As luck would have it, I would humbly accept your gesture of polite respect and accept your low bow; I would not try to outdo you with one of my own much deeper. Ah but I am so terribly westernised, am I not?

Ready? I will tell you from my museum and I will tell you how a tour works, but, lets face it, it is a German museum Take your time my love, you have all time in the world

Well how wonderful! I have copied and pasted your tour speech to its own document, and I will fully enjoy translating it. I shall print it and write it as I do all my translations, with a pencil on paper. It is an outdated and old fashioned practice, but elegant.

I should feel sympathy for the spider right? Well I think she is now on a better place. If heard the spider heaven should be quite cool.

As luck would have it, I would humbly accept your gesture of polite respect and accept your low bow; I would not try to outdo you with one of my own much deeper.

Would surprise me if master would acted differently.

Ah but I am so terribly westernised, am I not?

HA! True. I´m sure the humbly gesture gives master a real kick. Well, when you need only that to be happy, I will give you that with pleasure. You know how much I adore you.

Well how wonderful! I have copied and pasted your tour speech to its own document, and I will fully enjoy translating it. I shall print it and write it as I do all my translations, with a pencil on paper. It is an outdated and old fashioned practice, but elegant.

I looking forward to your opinion. Of course, there are parts where I wrote in Old German. And I allow me to quote Michelle, she says: “That is evil!” 😀 I wonder if you can understand it right. Keep in mind, “Ihr” is in old german “You”

Example: (old german) : “Ihr habt ein gar wunderschön anzusehendes Gesicht.”
In “normal” german you would say: “Du hast ein sehr schönes Gesicht.” Or “Sie haben ein sehr schönes Gesicht.” (Its the “Du” and “She” thing, remember? XD )
(means: You have a very beautiful face)

        1. I should feel sympathy for the spider right? Well I think she is now on a better place. If heard the spider heaven should be quite cool.

I have never liked spiders. Perhaps hated them even more than butterflies when I was a child.

Would surprise me if master would acted differently.

I prefer that others do the bowing, and I need not bow at all.

You see? That is why I love listening to German. It is the only language you can get a word as wonderful to hear as “anzusehendes.”

  8. If I may intrude for a moment.
Laertis, although I only understood about one word in ten, I have to say that was hot. I do so adore the German language.
Perhaps our mutual friend will be kind enough to translate, if I can ever catch her. 😉
Have you realized that we are friends yet, you and I?
I think it is simply marvelous that you are a minion of Marius darling. He is very dear to me, and can often be counted upon for endlessly fascinating conversation.
Until we meet again… carry on.

*blows a kiss to my beloved Marius as I take my leave*

    1. As you are so dear to me. Ah, but I suppose Laertis would know you under a different name, wouldn’t she? But she is a very clever woman, so I am certain she will figure it out.

    2. Yes, I know who you are. You have a unique way to post. Thats why I knew that you played Quinn in the SR game. ^.^

Why do you adore the German language?

Ha. How could I not be a minion of Marius? He is just adorable, you simply must love him. You have no other Choice. 😀

      1. Yes, I know who you are. You have a unique way to post. Thats why I knew that you played Quinn in the SR game. ^.^

I would make a terrible actor. I am no good at pretending to be anyone other than myself. Even to pretend to be someone else feels embarrassingly artificial and is therefore below me. It is strange how others can shed the mask of self and be so very different from their nature, and yet others by nature cannot. The sense of “them” is so deeply embedded.

        1. Marius, you know what? I think you can be a great and sneaky actor. 😀

In any case, I love it to play and I know that Im a good actor. Funny thing, my best role is the Casanova and men like women loves me in that role. Hihi

  9. You flatter me Marius. *blushes* She is clever indeed, and I am sure that given time, she will figure it out, if she hasn’t already. 😉
